  • Health Benefits of Ginseng, Medicinal Properties of Ginseng

Posted on June 21st, 2009 joediv No comments

Ginseng is the most widely used herbal supplements on the market today, compared to all the other herbal supplements. In ancient times it is also known as “man root” since it takes the shape of a man.

Ginseng is grown in many parts of the world. The roots are the part of the plant used for all Ginseng products. Each variety has its own health benefits. Ginseng benefits are cumulative. Taking the herb for several months to a year is far more effective than short-term doses. Ginsengs are used in many Eastern formulas to complement other herbs.

The simplest way to take ginseng is to simply eat the leaves from the plant. Unfortunately, unless you’re used to it, ginseng has a distinctly odd taste, which makes the experience a little unpleasant. Also, fresh, unprepared leaves will not last very long, which is makes fresh ginseng impractical if you don’t live in a ginseng-producing country

Ginseng is from the araliaceae family. The most common is called Panax ginseng and is found in Asia. There is another from called Panax Quinquefolius L that is from the Americas. The biological / genes name of “Panax” means “all heal” in Greek because the Greeks were very aware of the incredible healing powers of ginseng. The benefits of ginseng are varied and incredible. Ginseng can improve vitality and memory, help with stress, boost the immune system, decrease blood sugar levels, help balance the metabolism, and help maintain and improve muscle tone.

Ginseng is native to the country of Siberia and other parts of Asia. This herb has been used for several centuries in traditional Chinese medicinal remedies. It has also been used by the Chinese as an energy tonic. Over in the west scientists have been researching the different ways that we can use ginseng in a way that would benefit us. From their research the believe that it could help to reduce stress and help us to think more clearly and be more alert.

The primary health benefit claimed for ginseng is that it reduces stress without otherwise harming the body – something like alcohol, only without the side effects. The few studies that have been done have shown a few other benefits: it was proven to slightly reduce the risk of flu in old people, for example. The most controversial claim (again, one that is made for many traditional medicines) is that ginseng helps to fight cancer – but while this has been shown to be true in animals, it does not seem to have any effect in humans.

The principle ingredients of American ginseng tea are panax quinquefolium, herbal lysimachiae and radix glycyrrhizae. American ginseng is sometimes referred to as quinquefolium. Ginseng tea is probably the most popular use for Wisconsin ginseng. American ginseng is sometimes referred to as quinquefolium. The tea can be made from the whole root, slices, ginseng tea cut or ginseng tea bags. This is about 5-8 slices, about 1 teaspoon of ginseng tea cut or powder, or one tea bag. Ginseng tea is very simple to prepare.

Nowadays, the situation did not differ a lot; the skincare products manufacturers are now producing different products that include natural ingredients side by side with the chemical ones. There are now hundreds of skin care creams and lotions that contain milk, honey, yoghurt and cucumber.

In the late nineties, companies were producing skin care products but using only chemicals like ceriatenine and collagen. At this stage people were looking for products that would produce an instant effect and they were not concerned about the side effects of such products but after the year two thousand and with the concerns that grew about the usage of chemicals in skincare products, people tend to use skin care products that contains only natural oils and plant origin ingredients.

The newer products that contains these natural ingredients are easier to use and safer for everyone. These products are now sold over the counter without any concerns of the patients or the doctors because both are comfortable with the usage of natural products.

The skin care products are not only those creams and lotions used for skin lift and skin whitening but it also extends to ultra violet protection or what is known as sun blocks and sun screens.

After that the skincare products developed into other categories, in the past it was only related to the health but now it is also related to cosmetics. The most prominent example is the tanning lotion which is used to get the distinct skin color of the Latin Americans.

It was known that the skincare products are used by people in their forties or fifties to stretch their skin but now there are skin care products targeting girls in their twenties and thirties. The theory was only to treat the condition that already occurred but now the skin care products are used to prevent the occurrence of the condition.

The newer skincare products are now used to close the skin pores; this decreases the occurrence of skin inflammation. The astringent material in these products means the pores are closed so the skin is micro organism proof.
